EA Canada dołożyło wszelkich starań by w ręce fanów oddać w pełni dopracowany produkt wzbogacony o liczne ulepszenia. FIFA 10 to kolejna odsłona popularnej serii gier piłkarskich, tworzonych przez studio EA Sports od 1993 r. Symulacja w blisko 70% bazuje na elementach zaimplementowanych przez producentów w poprzedniej edycji cyklu, pozostałe 30% stanowią innowacje. Poza kilkoma poprawkami w oprawie graficznej uwaga autorów skupiła się na ulepszaniu gameplaya. FIFA 10 odróżnia się od wcześniejszych części serii bardziej realistycznym zachowaniem piłkarzy. Zawodnicy toczą walki o piłkę ścierając się bark w bark, a także z większą precyzją wykonują wślizgi. Napastnicy inteligentniej balansują na granicy spalonego i spacerują między obrońcami, czekając na podanie w uliczkę. W grze pojawił się również nowy rodzaj przechwytu: przez cofnięcie całej nogi obrońcy przy jednoczesnym przykucnięciu. Prócz tego przemodelowaniu uległo zachowanie golkiperów. W sytuacji sam na sam, gdy bramkarz obroni pierwsze uderzenie przeciwnika, w mgnieniu oka wstaje do obrony ewentualnej dobitki. W opcjach treningowych możemy projektować własne taktyki, a także od podstaw tworzyć nowe rozwiązania stałych fragmentów gry. Zmiany dosięgły też opcji transferowych, gdzie uwzględniono na przykład fakt, że gwiazdy światowego formatu niechętnie przechodzą do małych klubów nawet przy ofercie lukratywnego kontraktu, zaś drużyny o podobnych aspiracjach chętnie podbijają ceny wartościowych piłkarzy, jeśli dowiedziały się, że zawodnicy ci są obiektem zainteresowania najgroźniejszych konkurentów. Na prośbę graczy autorzy zmodyfikowali też tryb gry wieloosobowej. Większą uwagę przyłożono do działania serwerów i wprowadzono narzędzia eliminujące większość oszustw podczas meczów.
